As of the 1.4.0 Update you can now back up your island via Cloud Saves. Here’s how to make sure you never lose your Animal Crossing: New Horizons Island.

Island Backups require a subscription to Nintendo Online.

How to Back Up Your Island

  1. Select the game and the title screen will pop up.
  2. Select the (-) button to access Settings.
  3. Select Island Back Up.
  4. Enable Island Backup.
