How Long Is the Resident Evil 3 Remake Demo?
The Resident Evil 3 Remake Demo can be short and quick or it can be long and drawn out. It depends on what you’re trying to do:
- Just beating the demo: 25 – 40 minutes
- Finding every hour: 40 – 1 hour
- Finding every item and bobblehead before completing the demo: 1 hour – 1.5 hours
This walkthrough covers everything in the Resident Evil 3 Remake demo from beginning to end. It includes tips on how to get past certain encounters, how to get to the end, where all of the collectibles can be found and more.
After selecting options like brightness and audio setup, the demo will begin with a cutscene setting up the demo. You’ll meet the game’s protagonist, Jill Valentine, as well as Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service agent Carlos Oliveira and his captain, Mikhail Victor.
Mikhail will ask Jill to get the subway running again so UBCS can save some of the survivors trapped on the train. Jill will begrudgingly accept the mission and you’ll be on your way.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 1: When you’re in control of Jill, head out the door to the left. When you reach the end of the subway, look acros the railroad tracks and across the way, next to a white pillar, you’ll see your first Mr. Charlie bobblehead.
After that, head right from Mikhail. Once you’re out of the subway car, turn left and on the bench, you’ll find the U.B.C.S. Ammo Crafting Guide.
This guide will explain the following:
- Handgun Ammo: Gunpowder x2
- Shotgun Shells: Gunpower + High-Grade Gunpowder
- MAG Ammo: High-Grade Gunpowder x2
On another seat on the same bench as the ammo crafting guide, you can find Handgun Ammo x10. Now, head up the stairs and the game will tell you that you can run by pressing L3 on PS4 or by pressing the left stick on Xbox One.
Head up the stairs and in front of you, a tad to the left, is a small convenience stand. Go there and pick up the Tabloid Front Page collectible up top. From here, continue up the stairs and Carlos will tell you that you need to get power back to the subway.
He’ll explain more when you reach the main road. For now, head up the escalator and pick up the following items in front of you at the top: two Green Herbs (these will heal you) and two Gunpowder (these can be used to create ammo).
Head left and into the room ahead. Pick up the U.B.C.S Herb Field Manual. This will explain to you the following:
- High Potency Mixture: Green Herb x2
- Maximum Potency Mixture: Green Herb + Red Herb or Green Herb x3.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 2: Shoot the bobblehead just a foot to the left of the herb manual.
To the left of the table you found these two things on is your first Item Box. You can store items in here and put them back into your inventory at any other Item Box in the game.
Don’t bother putting anything away in here, but you should combine your two Green Herbs to create a Mixed Herb. Combine your two sets of Handgun Ammo as well so that your Handgun Ammo only takes up one space in your inventory.
While we’re here, take a look at your map. You should see that the room you’re currently in is marked red on the map. This means there are still things to be found inside. When you’ve found everything, the room’s color will be blue.
You might be wondering why the room is still red. Head back out from where you came and just to the right of the room’s entrance, on the ground, is a crate covered in orange tape. Shoot it to reveal a Red Herb hidden within. Now the room is blue on the map.
It’s time to head out into Raccoon City. When you leave the subway station, a short cutscene will play out. When back in control of Jill, the game will tell you to press L2 or LT to aim. Once you’re aimed at the zombie’s head, press R2 or RT to shoot.
You’ll soon find that you need to shoot the zombie quite a few times in the head to take it out. Just because it falls to the ground doesn’t mean it’s dead. Get in the habit of pulling your knife out to stab the zombie on the ground just to make sure it’s dead.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 3: Look at the back of the ambulance ahead of you to the right and shoot the bobblehead here.
You’ll find that you can’t head into the town as a large barricade of cars blocks your way forward. Instead, head left through an alleyway and get ready to take out two zombies when you go around the corner. Head forward through the game and you’ll be on the other side of the car barricade from before.
If you head straight ahead to the toy store, you’ll find a neat Mega Man easter egg. You can check it out below. Otherwise, head up the street. Don’t bother taking out the zombies on the gate as you’ll be forced to do so later.
Shoot the crate sitting just a few steps before the zombies on the gate (the ones on the left of the street — not the ones up ahead). You’ll find Gunpowder inside.
Head down the street and you’ll hit another cutscene. Those zombies on the gate earlier? Time to take them out. Wait for the construction worker zombie to get near the red barrel and then shoot it to blow the zombie up.
With them out of the way, go back to the other zombies on the fence.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 4: Just behind them, on the hood of the police car, is a bobblehead to shoot.
Head to the gate that’s now fallen down. Before heading down stairs, you can either pick off each zombie from a safe distance or shoot the red box sparking with electricity up ahead on the right. Doing so will unleash a shock wave that should take out all of the temporarily.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 5: To the left of the stairs, on the ground under the scaffolding, is a bobblehead for you to shoot.
Now, head to the shop straight ahead but before heading in, look to the left and on a box, you should find some Gunpowder.
Now, let’s head inside. In the shop, if you head right, you’ll find two dead bodies and some Gunpowder on the table. In the middle is some handgun ammo and to the left is a Safe Room. There’s a Green Herb and some Bolt Cutters for you to pick up in here.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 6: Now, go to the front counter of the place. In the right corner on a shelf is a bobblehead for you to shoot.
With the bolt cutters in town, head back to the Toy Uncle store. When you’re looking straight ahead at it, head right and you’ll reach a supermarket locked with a chain. Use your Bolt Cutters to open the door.
Inside, you’ll find some High-Grade Gunpowder and a First Aid Spray on the shelves.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 7: On the counter where the cash register is, you’ll find a bobblehead to shoot.
Before heading back to the donut shop we were previously in, let’s go right up the stairs that are just east of the donut shop and when you can, take a right. Up here, there are two zombies. Shoot the red barrel to blow them up. Head to where they were and then turn around. Search the construction worker body on the ground to find Gunpowder.
Continue forward and to the left, you’ll find a ladder you can drop down. This will create a quick shortcut to where we were when we last got a cutscene.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 8: Head back to the two zombies we just blew up and search the other side of this platform. On an electrical box, you’ll find a bobblehead to shoot.
There’s also a crate next to it with a Red Herb inside. Head back down the stairs and instead of going back to the donut shop, continue forward. Go through the door and ahead of you inside is your first Safe. You don’t yet have the code but we’ll find it.
To the left of the safe is the Drugstore Owner’s Journal. Read it and you’ll get the following clues: Code and Aqua Cure. Keep these clues in mind. For now, open the drawer just to the left of this journal to find Gunpowder.
Let’s continue through this building. On the left will be a zombie.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 9: Take them out and before exiting, look on the third shelf farthest to the left to find a bobblehead.
Now we can exit the building. Right after you exit, turn left and you’ll find some Handgun Ammo. Head forward along the path and you’ll reach some stairs downward.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 10: Before taking these, look up at the railway tracks and you’ll see a bobblehead.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 11: Now, turn left and look at the donut shop. On the roof is another bobblehead.
The street below is the street on the other side of the donut shop we were in earlier.
Now, you can continue down but you’ll have to kill five zombies. That’s going to take a lot of bulles. Instead, head back to the donut shop and exit out the other side. You’ll see a red barrel before you. Rally up the zombies near it and shoot it once to take out all five zombies at once.
After that, head left to find a crate with a Green Herb inside.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 12: The cop car right here’s doors are closed, but if you perform 25 perfect dodges (dodge right before a zombie lunges at you — you’ll know it was a perfect dodge because a white flash will flash on the screen), one of the doors will open to reveal a bobblehead inside. You don’t need to do all 25 dodges in a single run through. The game will keep track of your total perfect dodge count.
After that, go through the metal gate door just to the right. It’s locked and you’ll need to use your Bolt Cutters to get through.
Down this path, you’ll encounter three zombies. Two will be in front of you and one will sneak up behind. Shoot the red barrel to take out the two in front and then shoot the one behind you. Continue to the end of this alley to find some Ammo and a Hand Grenade.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 13: Open the silver case before you to get some Shotgun Shells and to your left, in between two vents, you’ll see a bobblehead on the ground.
Head back out onto the main street from before and to the left of the donut shot is a small alley. There’s some Handgun Ammo to be found here.
Now, head inside the railway building across the street and follow the hallway down. Take out the zombie here and pick up the Fire Hose at the end of the hallway.
Inside the room to the right of the hose, you’ll find the Subway Employee’s Memo on the desk. It’ll tease the existence of a shotgun. It’s in the locked cabinet inside this room. Use your Bolt Cutters to open the cabinet and grab the Shotgun within.
You can safely discard the Bolt Cutters now to free up an inventory slot.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 14: Before leaving this room, look to the right and in the barely-open cabinet, you’ll find a bobblehead to shoot.
Head out of this room and go deeper into this building. In the next room, you’ll find the Kite Bros. Railway Manual sitting on a chair. Now, exit this building and go the pharmacy down the street.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 15: Inside is a Red Herb, 10 Handgun Ammo, and a bobblehead on the back shelf (it’ll be on your right).
See the large Aqua Cure poster with a girl sitting on it on the wall? Look at the numbers in the bottom right corner. That’s the code to the safe from earlier. The combination is: Turn left nine ticks, turn right one tick, and then turn left eight ticks, or in other words left to 9, right to 8, left to 0.
Head back to the safe and open it using this combination to get the Dot Sight for the Handgun.
Now, head out and to your left, kill the zombie by the cars. Continue forward and on the right is a crate. Shoot it to find a Green Herb. Now, head back to the donut shop and head toward the Toy Uncle store. It’s time to meet Nemesis.
Your best bet at this point in the demo is to run past the Nemesis and perfect dodge out of its way when it lunges at you. If you want to put it down for a bit, shoot it with four Shotgun bullets and it’ll go down on its knee.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 16: If you’re after bobbleheads, put Nemesis down near the cop car by the subway entrance and it’ll pop open a door just a tad, revealing a bobblehead inside.
After this, head to the gate from earlier with the fire and the burning zombies. To the right is a gate fence door you can go through. Head through it and attach your Fire Hose to the red fire hydrant.
If you’re ready to complete the demo, head forward and one last cutscene will play out before the demo is officially over. There’s still some bobbleheads to find though and a safe to open.
After putting out the fire, take no more than two steps forward (your goal here is to not trigger the demo’s final cutscene).
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 17: To the left, you’ll see a green door. Look up and you’ll see a bobblehead sitting on top of a vent.
You’ll know you missed it when a cutscene plays. Sadly, you’ll need to redo the entire demo to get back to here as once this cutscene plays, you’re booted back out to the main menu.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 18: After that, head back to the Uncle Toy store. Aim your pistol or Shotgun at the Mr. Charlie poster inside the Uncle Toy store for roughly 15 seconds. After this, go to the stairs that lead to the Donut Shop. On the building, south of the giant donut, you should see a shadow of what appears to be a bobblehead. Shoot the shadow because it’s actually a bobblehead.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 19: Now, go to the cop car in front of the subway entrance (it’s the one where the door opens after taking down Nemesis nearby). Look left and you’ll see a single zombie. Kill it. Now, go to the pharmacy and for whatever reason, a zombie previously dead slouched on a shelf is gone. A bobblehead is in its place.
The last bobblehead to grab can only be found if you’ve obtained MAG Rounds (combine High-Power Gunpowder — the first can be found in the pharmacy — with another High-Power Gunpowder — the second can be found in the supermarket) and spoken to Mikael back in the subway a second time.
He’ll mention Carlos clearing rubble from his brain.
Mr. Charlie Bobblehead 20: After this, head back up to the area where the ladder shortcut can be found. Up here, you’ll find a construction worker zombie near a Cleaning-in-Progress sign. In front of the sign is the last bobblehead.
