Over the course of a month, the Nintendo PlayStation attracted the attention of serious collectors including Oculus founder Palmer Luckey, who tweeted about his desire to own the system for historical preservation.
IGN spoke briefly with Heritage Auctions, the auction house that sold the Nintendo PlayStation, and while they’re still crunching the numbers they said they believe the system and the rest of the gaming collections that were sold would be “one of the most valuable” video game lots auctioned off.Along with the Nintendo PlayStation, the auction sold rare video games like early copies of Super Mario Bros. Heritage Auctions also previously sold a record-breaking $100,000 copy of Super Mario Bros. for the NES back in February.
