Where to find Weapons in Resident Evil 2 Remake?
The type of weapons you pick up early on can make surviving the chaos of Raccoon City a lot easier. If you’re playing as Leon, the first gun you should pick up is the W-870 Shotgun, located in the safety deposit room on the first floor of the Raccoon City Police Station.
If you’re playing as Claire, you should pick up the GM 79 Grenade Launcher, found in the same location. It’s important to note that you’ll need to pick up the spade key and the weapon locker key card before you can access the safety deposit room.
It may seem like a lot of effort, but these are both great weapons to have early on as they can help with zombie crowd control and fending off the nefarious Mr. X. Check out our Resident Evil 2 Remake weapon locations guide for a complete list of weapons and where you can find them.
Where to find Ammo in Resident Evil 2 Remake?
Ammo is a resource you have to manage carefully in Resident Evil 2 Remake or else you risk running out and having to run away from every single threat that comes your way. Since there are a variety of locations to find ammo and they all largely depend on several factors — such as which character you are playing as, where you are in the game, and which run you are completing — I suggest taking a look at our Resident Evil Remake 2 walkthrough guide.
Each walkthrough is catered to either Leon or Claire and whether you’re playing through their main story or second run. Each of these walkthroughs is then separated by location so it’s easier to find the exact spot you’re looking for. Each one will also let you know when to save ammo and when you should use it.
Alternatively, you could just take a look at our Resident Evil 2 Remake maps which detail all the item locations in the game. That can be pretty spoilery though, so proceed at your own risk.

All Locker Codes, Safe Combinations, and Puzzle Solutions in Resident Evil 2 Remake
In Resident Evil 2 Remake, you’ll frequently come across locks, safes, and puzzles that won’t reveal what they’re hiding without the proper input. Sometimes it’s a code and other times it’s a combination or a solution, but in almost every scenario, you’ll need to have come across the key during your time exploring Raccoon City.
There are plenty of these scattered throughout the game and you don’t come across them in any particular order, but there are a few that you absolutely need to move forward in the story. We’ve highlighted them below and included our guide for the most important items you’ll need in RE2.
How Do I Avoid Mr. X in Resident Evil 2 Remake?
Mr. X is a big, scary obstacle that you just can’t avoid. Hearing him stomping around looking for you doesn’t exactly make things easy. The fear he can strike can be borderline immobilizing but we have a few tactics you can use to avoid and even hide from him if you need to.
- You can’t kill Mr. X in the police station, so save your ammo.
- If you can’t hear Mr. X’s footsteps, consider yourself safe — for now.
- If you’re trying to escape from him, go through as many doors as possible and he will likely lose track of you.
