This is IGN’s guide to finding the four Weapons in Mortal Shell. Each weapon features a unique moveset that caters to a specific playstyle, as well as two unique weapon abilities. Use the guide below to find each weapon.
The Hallowed Sword is the starting weapon, given to you after completing the dodge and harden tutorial. Claim it by interacting with the statue.
Think of his battle as a test of your ability to use the aggressive harden. Hadern’s attacks are slow, heavily telegraphed, and easy to dodge. Stay just out of melee range and wait for him to whiff an attack, then rush in and begin a combo. When he tries to retaliate, do an attack harden to block and force him to stagger. Then back off, let your stamina and harden recharge, then rinse and repeat.
Once Hadern has been defeated you will be returned to the Shrine of Ash and you can claim the Smoldering Mace from the nearby statue.
The Martyr’s Blade can be found at the entrance to the Crypt of Martyrs temple. Interact with the pedestal to trigger a boss fight against Hadern.
Similar to the Smoldering Mace fight, this Hadern’s attacks are very slow and easy to dodge but they have a wide range. Stay just out of range of his wide slashes, then rush in with a jumping attack combo to try and get a stagger. If you see him retaliate, harden to protect yourself but don’t stop attacking. Most of his attacks can not be parried, but his forward thrust can so keep an eye out for it.
Once Hadern has been defeated you will be returned to the Crypt of Martyrs and you can claim the Martyr’s Blade from the nearby statue.
Hammer and Chisel
The Hammer and Chisel can be found at the entrance to the Seat of Infinity temple. Interact with the pedestal to trigger a boss fight against Hadern.
Unlike the other two, this Hadern’s attacks are fast with few breaks in between. It can be hard to find a good opening even when using an aggressive harden. Instead, run away from Hadern to bait out his running jump attack, which can be easily parried. Combo the parry into an empowered riposte, then punish with a combo. Rinse and repeat until he is defeated.
Once Hadern has been defeated you will be returned to the Seat of Infinity and you can claim the Hammer and Chisel from the nearby statue.
